CERTIFIED WHEAT.

I SYSTEM may be retained. DEPUTATION TO THE DIRECTOR. (Per Press Association). CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. There is every possibility that the Department of Agriculture will not proceed with its plans for abandoning, as an economy measure, the certification of seed wheat. A matter of vital interest to farmers and millers, certification guarantees the quality and yield. Members of the Wheat Committee and South Canterbury growers this morning met the director of the fields division (Mr R. B. Tennent) and told him that to stop certification would be a retrograde, step. Mr Tennent replied that, he would discuss the situation with the Minister of Agriculture' on his return to Wellington and li© felt confident the request for the continuing of the scheme would meet with favourable consideration.
