Mr C. P. Allen, of the Rnnpnna School, lias been transferred to take charge of the Pleasant Valiev School, in South Canterbury.

Messrs It. M. Chilton and C. Moody, of Ashburton, have passed in bookkeeping, stage 2, in the examinations conducted in October by the New Zealand Institute of Secretaries.

Mr Ri. M. McGregor has been appointed district representative, for Ashburton on the Canterbury branch of the Royal Life-Saving Society, and honorary district examiner.

Mr W. H. Courtney, Inspector of Permanent Ways on the railway staff at Ashburton, will leave on transfer to a grade 5 position at Oamaru nextweek. He Avill be replaced bv Mr G. E. Williams, of Parnassus. Mr Courtney has been at Ashburton for about two years and a half.
