SUNK BY A MINE
LOSS OF JAPANESE VESSEL. & * ALL ON BOARD SAVED. STRUCK BY GERMAN MINE. (United Press Association—Copyright.) . (Received This Day, 1.45 p.m.) LONDON, November 21. A German mine sent down the steamer Terukuni Maru almost within sight of her terminal port. A thousand people saw the explosion and watched the ship’ founder and those aboard rescued. -y ’ It. is officially confirmed that, all were saved and only three injured. Ihe passengers included 13 British nationals. Six auxiliary craft, a.pilotship and lifeboats took part in the rescue. The liner sank bow first. The stern was lifted high out of the water and remained there 15 minutes before sinking. The vessel entirely 40 minutes after the explosion. The injured included a British woman, aged 70, who was thrown down on the floor of the saloon. The passengers said there was no panic. The ship heeled over when the explosion oceuired. All went to the deck and saw trawlers and lifeboats hurrying to the scene. Everybody was taken ofF without even wetting their feet.
