THE ASHBURTON MARKET. Prices at the Ashburton fruit and produce market yesterday were: Walnuts—sd to 6d lb. Cabbages—New season’s, 4d to sd. Chaff—4s to 4s 6d a sack. Potatoes—7s 6d to 8s a sugar-bag. . Seed Potatoes — to 2d lb. Wheat—lßs and 20s a sack. Honey—Bd and ,9d a lb. Onions—6d lb. Bacon—lOd and Is a lb. Apples—Delicious, 10s to 12s a case. Apples—Stunners Os to 10s 6d n case. Cauliflowers—4s to 8s a dozen. Leeks —3d a bundle. Parsnips—3s to 3s Gd a sugar-bag. Lettuce—2d and 3d each. Rhubarb—Gd and Gd a bundle. Spinach—4d a bundle. GRAIN AND PRODUCE. THE CHRISTCHURCH' MARKET. ■ * CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. As is.usual at this time of the year, thei'e is very little activity in the Canterbury grain, seed, and produce markets. Potatoes are finished, and business in other sections is small. Some apprehension is being felt about the seed crops, which need a thorough, soaking rain. The dry spell has extended right through Canterbury and Otago, and although crops on heavy land are still satisfactory, the light lands are beginning to show signs of the drought. The following quotations are to farmers on trucks at country sidings, unless otherwise indicated:—

Wheat—Milling, f.0.b., Tuscan 5s lid; Hunters 6s Id; Pearl, 6s 3d. (Final payment of 3d a bushel on all wheat at the end of year.) Oats—A Gartons 2s 9d to 3s, B Gartons 2s 6d; Algerians 3s to 3s 9d, Duns 3s 6d to 4s 6d.

Ryegrass (good germination)—Perennial up to 5s 6d (nominal), Italian tip to 4s to 4s 6d (nominal). 'Cocksfoot—6d to 7a (nominal). White Clover —is to is 3d per lb. Red Clover—Old season’s 4d to 6d per lb; new season’s, 7d. Chaff—£4 2s 6d to £4 5s a ton.

Barley—'Malting 4s 7£d, feed 3s to 3s 6d a bushel, according to quality. Bran —Large £4 15s, small £5 ss. Pollard—Large £6 5s a ton, small £6 15s.

DIVIDEND UNCHANGED. NORTH CANTERBURY FREEZING . COMPANY. (Special .> to the Guardian.”) CHRISTHIJRCH, This Day. Net profit of £6230,. against £6.433 in the previous year, was earned by the North Canterbury iSheepfarmers’ Co-operative Freezing, Export and Agency Company, Ltd., in the year ended September 30, 1939. Dividend recommendations are unchanged a£ per cent, per annum on preference and ordinary shares, absorbing £4306. The amount available for distribution this year was £13,711 (£11,787 last year), and after paying the dividends, £9405. will be carried fox-ward, against £7481 .brought in. ■ Gross revenue was higher this year, but taxation provision and depreciation have increased and have more than absorbed the improved turnover.
