(Received, This pay, IQ.-55 a.m.)^ • LONDON, November 17. ■lt is'officially announced that the Women’s Auxiliary Territorial Service is being doubled in strength to 40,000 to release manpower. It is. also announced that 20,000 men aged from .35 to 50 are to be recruited immediately for the home defence battalions, which will Ik* closely affiliated to territorial county regiments. This recruitment will release able bodied fighters,. a considerable number of whom are still, guarding bridges, railwavs and factories.
