WOOL APPRAISEMENT.
WORK IN THE NORTH ISLAND. MINISTER MENTIONS DATE. (Per Press Association). WELLINGTON, November 17. Dates when the appraisement of wool is to begim in various North Island centres were announced by the Minister for Marketing (the Hon. W. Nash), on behalf of the •Minister for Agriculture (the Hon. W. Lee Martin) in a broadcast address this evening. Mr Nash said that appraisement would start in Auckland to-morrow. Arrangements had been made to begin appraisement in Gisborne on November 24, and in Napier and Wellington on November 28. Broker’s in other centres would he notified in a few days of dates when the appraisals would begin in those places. Mr Nash said there w r as shipping available to lift 19,500 bales of wool from Auckland by December 2. It had been hoped, and particularly in view of the statements that had been made that wool was becoming congested in Auckland brokers’ stores, that this quantity would have been available for immediate appraisement to-day. Such, unfortunately, was not the case. It was essential that immediate delivery to the stores be made of properly-sorted fleece wools so that the full 19,500 bales would he shipped, and brokers were urged to do their utmost to see that this was done. The appraisers would be retained in Auckland during the next week so that all wool coming forward might be dealt with immediately.
