EXCLUDING INFERIOR GRADES. CERTIFICATE COMPULSORY. m (Per Press Association). WELLINGTON, November 16. “For some time past the export of inferior-grade sheep has been a matter of concern not only to the Government but also to sheep-breeding societies since the export of inferior quality animals is a reflection on tho quality of the sheep bred in. the Dominion,” said the Minister of Agriculture (the Hou. W. Lee Martin), in an interview to-night. “During my visit to Australia some time ago, representations were made to me' on this matter by members of the Australian Agricultural Council, supported by the Commonwealth Government, when I promised for the New Zealand Government the fullest co-operation to ensure, that only good quality sheep true to type were exported. “With the whole-hearted co-opera-tion of the . various sheep-breeding societies in the Dominion, a procedure has been settled by which all sheep intended for export to any part of the British Empire or the American Continent will require to he examined by the inspectors of the appropriate sheep-breeding societies, and only those sheep that atre certified as being of the standard and duality approved by the certifying society will be permitted to be- exported. The necessary Order-in-Council under 1 the Customs Act, 1913, is being gazetted to-day and will come into force on Mondap, November 27.”
