INCENDIARY FIRE.
BLAZE IN REFRESHMENT STALL. OUTBREAK QUICKLY SUBDUED. (Special to the “ Guardian.”) WELLINGTON, November 13. At 3.45 a.m. yesterday Constables Higgins and Morris Avere patrolling the- Petone esplanade when they observed smoke issuing from a refresh*meat stall oil the beach. The fire was fortunately in the- incipient stage, and was soon extinguished by the Petone Volunteer Fire Brigade. The lining boards in the north-Avest corner were' burnt through. An inspection, revealed that a door had been burst open and a small bundle: of cotton waste saturated Avith kerosene- and partly burnt had been placed in position. The building is OAvned by the- Petone Borough Council and is leased to a firm of ice-cream manufacturers. There was nothing in the building except an ice-chest, tables and chairs.
During the; past low months there have been at least th|re© incendiary fires in the district, but the damage has been small.
