SOUND PROGRESS.
ASHBURTON SOUTH CHURCHES. FINDING OF THE PRESBYTERY. “The whole charge appears to be in a sound condition,” stated the moderator of the Ashburton presbytery (the Rev. J. S. Freeman), when he. read a. finding of the Presbytery at the Tinwald, Flonvington and Lagmher churches yesterday. The finding paid a. tribute! to the work of the Rev. D. D. MacLachlan during the last four years. Both the session and the management- committee were vital, the sense of responsibility being sound and consistent. The communion roll registered 200 persons, and a notable feature of the three sections of the charge was their co-ope,ration and sound progress. Front roll numlrers in both. Bible classes and Sunday schools it appeared that the youth work was making a, successful appeal. “The Presbytery commends Ashburton South on its sound financial position and on the enthusiasm with wjhich renovation; and building, programmes have been attended to in recent years,” added the report.
