THE PEACE PROPOSAL

REPLY BY KING GEORGE EMPIRE’S CONDITIONS INDEPENDENCE AND LIBERTY I His Majesty King George has replied on behalf of the British Empire to the peace proposal made by Queen Wiihelmina and King Leopold. The attitude of the Empire is stated in the following words: “Should your Majesties be able to communicate to me any proposals from Germany of such a character as would afford a real prospect of achieving Britain’s purpose —to redeem Europe from the perpetually-recurring fear of German Aggression and to ■ enable the peoples of Europe to preserve their independence and ; liberties —then my Government would give them the most earnest consideration.”
