BLOOD TRANSFUSIONS.
NEW VOLUNTARY SERVICE. ASHBURTON TOO H MEMBERS. A voluntary: blood transfusion service, the first of its kind in Ashburton, has been established at the Ashburton Public Hospital, the donors being members of the Toe H group. In recent weeks, according to a report presented to the) Hospital Board this morning by the acting-Medical Superintendent (Dr. J. Lannon), the service, has been used eight time's, and the saving to the Board had been £l6 16s.
There previously existed a list of donors to a similar service and payment of two guineas was made to them each time they gave their blood in the interests of a patient at the hospital. Dr. Lannon that at the rate already established, the saving to the Board for the year will he about £SO, Last vear, the service cost about £8 Bs. ' '
