PERSONAL.

Captain P. A. Bergman, 3rd Composite Company, New Zealand Army Service Corps-, lias been appointed district transport officer, Christchurch. Captain Bergman enlisted from Ashburton.

Mrs F. W. Seldon, president of the Ashburton branch of the Plunket Society, is attending a conference of the Dominion Council at Wellington. She wll return toward the end of the week.

Mr Angus Mcßean, head of the English section of the Rosenberg International College, Switzerland, who has been spending a. holiday in Ashburton with his parents, the Rev. Angus and Mrs Mcßean, left to-day on the first stage of his return trip to Switzerland.

Miss P. M. Dudderidge, leasee of the Ilakaia Hospital, will vacate the position on February 2. She will undertake post graduate work if her offer of services for Army nursing is not accepted.

Dr. !P. Brown, junior house surgeon at the Ashburton Public Hosptal, has been appointed house surgeon in -dace of Dr. D.. R. Ryder, who will this week leave for Nelson, to take up an appointment as assistant , Medical Superintendent.

Approval of the appointment of the Matron of the. Ashburton Public Hospital (Miss E. J. Watt), Mesdamcs W. H. Bundle and F. Curtis, the Rev. Angus Mcßean, Dr. W. R. Ryburn, Mr L. A. Charles and the leader of the Nurses’ Christian Union, as trustees of the Nurses’ Chapel Fund was given .by the Ashburton Hospital Board to-day.

In recognition of their services in the building' of the new pavilion :at the Allenton S'ports Club grounds, Messrs J. Gowans and Peter Boothro.yd were met by fellow members of the club on Saturday, when appreciation of their work was expressed. They were presented with an arm chair and a leather howls hag, respectively, the gifts having been subscribed for by members.
