SCHOOL ’BUS.

COMPLIES WITH REGULATIONS. INSPECTION MADE TO-DAY. It is understood ffliat as a result of an inspection by two officers of the Transport Department this morning, the school bus which was concerned in the accident at Greenstreet on Monday, when a small boy fell out on to the road after opening the'door, has been declared to be fully in accord with the regulations governing such vehicles. In connection with the report published .yesterday, it was stated to-day that the bus was not taken off the road, but was taken off that particular route so that it could be brought back to Ashburton for the operator’s inspection. It was stated, too, _ that while there had been three accidents of a similar nature in the same locality, the first two not involving injury, the accident on JVlonday was the first one ill which this bus was associated. Of the four doors on the side of the bus, two open from the front and two from the back, and it is understood that representations are to be made to the Transport Department with a view to having all the doors swung so that they open from the back. This would prevent the wind catching the doors as soon as they fire opened and swinging violently back. If they all opened from the rear the wind would tend to keep them close to the side of the vehicle.
