OF OLD DEAD-SHOTS. Tall stories about “crack shots who roamed the plains during early days of the old West, are just a myth! Jhat conclusion was voiced by Johnny alack Brown, star of Universal’s 10-chapter serial drama, “Flaming; Lrontieis. “Uni casting no reflections on the eyesight or courage of those early heroes of the plains,’’ Brown explained during filming of the picture. “But with such poorly constructed weapons to defend themselves, it’s a wonder they could hit even the side of a mountain.' Accoiciing to Brown, who makes a hobby of guns, the modern, precision methods o firearms manufacture and perfected explosives enable even the casual rifleman of the present to hit the mark more accurately than the okl frontier heroes. In “Flaming Frontiers,” John plays the role of”an Indian-fighting scout. His leading lady is Eleanor Hansen, newcomer from radio. The serial is based on a popular novel by Peter B. Ivyne.
