THE “BLONDIE” SERIES.
A SCREEN JOY. Columbia appear to have a sure-fire hit in the series based on the jiews-paper-and-mngazine strip, “Blondie,” the first of which—under the one-word title, “Blondie.” “Blondie” of course, will be retained in all succeeding releases, the second and third of which will be “Blondie Steps out” and “Blondie Meets the Boss.” In the title-role is Penny 'Singleton, with Arthur Lake as her husband, and Larry Sims as their little«baby bov. A wonderfully-trained, mirth-provoking dog completes the household. Humorous situations, remarkable in their variety, follow in swift succession in an excellently-devel-oped story, the effect being a continuous stream of laughs from the audience. Admirably east are Aliss Singleton and Ah’ Lake in their respective parts. If the pictures to follow are up to the same standard —and there’s certainly no reason why they shouldn’t be —it is the safest thing in the world to predict that the series will be one of the most-lookod-for joys of the screen.
