ENTERTAINMENTS.
ST. JAMES THEATRE. "MB WONIC, DETECTIVE.” Last night’s audience were loud in praise of this week’s star programme which has its final screening to-night, with: Chapter 13 of “The Lone Ranger”, Boris Karloff, master of characterisation as the Chinese) detective, James Lee . Wong in “Mr Wong Detective,” and Jack Oakie and Lucillei Ball in “The Affairs of Annabel.^ Commencing at thei matinee to-mor-row is Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer’s joyous musical comedy “Honolulu.” Glorious settings, ear-haunting melodies and side-splitting comedy combine to give tip-ton entertainment with Eleanor Powell, that most accomplished of dancers, in new routines that will win her many new admirers, Robert- Young appears in a dual role and the surprise of the doubles at their first meeting and the bewilderment of ,a negro manservant will sway the audience with increasing merriment, the comedy highlights, however, are George Burns and Gracie Allen, here are two fun-makers on a grand scale to keep audiences bubbling with laughter. Comedy, music and spectacle, “Honolulu” is completely surrounded. Matinees will be given on both days.
