CONCERT AT METHVEN.
AN ENJOYABLE PROGRAMME. The Methvcn Town Hall was crowded on Thursday night, when a concert was held in aid of the funds of All Saints 'Church. Most of the items were contributed by local performers. The Methvcn District High School girls’ choir contributed a number of items under the baton of Mr Patton Lock, who came from Christchurch to conduct. Mr A. C. Gadd, who was chairman, thanked all who had assisted, on behalf of the church. The programme was:— Overture, Methvcn concert orchestra ; Methvcn D.H.S. girls’ choir; vocal trio, Misses Helen Petrie, Edith and Irene Brown; gymnastic display, members of Young Men’s Club and Misses Ngaio Johns and Margaret Owen; trio (violins and piano), Misses Vera and Irene Richards and Jean Campion; song, Miss Yvonne Wright; popular modern numbers, Mothven Harmonica Band; song, “Land of Hope and Glory,’’ Mrs L. L. Richards; Highland fling, Masters Trevor Manger and Donald Young; songs, Mr Lambert; Irish jig, Misses Irene and Pauline McKendry; cinema silhouette, concert committee; vocal duet, Misses Edith and Nocline Brown; song and dance, Miss Yvonne Wright; vocal duet, Mesdames A. W. McKendry and G. Anderson; tap dance, Miss Jean Lawson ; sketch, Anglican Bible Class. Mesdames A. S. Kennedy and M. Lawrence and Mr Patton Lock were accompanists. After the concert a dance was held, music being supplied by Cook’s Orchestra. Mr A. Gadd was master of ceremonies.
