THE PEACE OFFER.
ALLIED PRESS COMMENT. NO NEW PROBLEM “INTRODUCED. (Received This Day, 12.20 p.m.) LONDON, September 29. The emergence, from the talks between Herr von Ribbentrop and M. Molotov at Mosen, of a. divide Poland between Russia and Germany, and the announcement that failing success of the efforts to end the war in the west therei would be further Ger-man-Russian co-operhtion, is regarded by the newspapers, both in London and in Paris, as importing into the situation no problem that has not already been faced. Nevertheless the tone of the terms of the joint German-Russian declaration is regarded as further evidence of the extent of the deteft’ioration in the standards of international conduct and as emphasising the necessity and firm stand against the methods which cynically sacrifice the independence of small States. “The Star” in a editorial says: “The pact between Russia, and Germany has not altered the great question at issue. The war is being fought for freedom and every move which has taken place since it began has only served to make that fact more plain.” The comment in the “Evening News” is typical of much other comment, in suggesting Ibat Herr Hitler has got ratliqr a poor bargain. —'British Official Wireless.
