CAPTURE OF FORT.
LOCAL SUCCESS BY FRENCH. FREQUENT AIR ENCOUNTERS. (Received This Day, 1.20 p.m.) LONDON, September 29. The correspondent Times” states that a local attack resulted in the French capturing Oberperl Fort, in the triangle between.the Saar- and Moselle. A battalion of infantry, with tank support, achieved this purely tactical success, taking many prisoners on the front cabled earlier. The Germans simultaneously unsuccessfully attacked, along the Saarbruck-' en front. . ■ Aerial encounters are more frequent. The German interceptor planes, on attacking Allied reconnaissance planes, were attacked in turn by French arid British escort planes to the advantage of the latter. . . . President Lebrun visited. the northeastern sector, where lie* awarded three decorations.
