Mr C. Stevenson, of the Ashburton staff of Lane, Walker, Rudkin, Ltd., left this• morning for Oamaru on promotion. Members of the Asliburton Rugby Referees’ Association, of which ho is a member, made a presentation to him on Thursday evening. Mr G, M. Roberts, who lias hern a member of the Ashburton Silver Rand for the last 10 months, was presented with a fountain pen by the conductor (Mr E. R. Hopwood) before bis departure for Wellington, to take/ up a ncsition in the Air Force. Prior to concluding licr work at the Ashburton Borough School yesterday, Miss H. Wise, who will next week take up a teaching position in Christchurch, was met by the pupils of the infant section of the school and presented with- a clock, subscribed for by the children. The presentation was made bv the headmaster (Mr M. J. Leith). r
