Mr A. N. Crigg M.P. returned from Wellington this morning. The Rev. Angus Mcßoan has returned to Ashburton after an official visit to the North Island. The Mayor (Dr. G. I. Miller) returned to Ashburton from Wellington this morning. He was away on business connected with the Municipal Association of New Zealand. ■ Mrs E. C. Norrish (secretary) will represent the Ashburton branch of the Presbyterian Women’s Missionary Union at the annual Dominion conference of the Union in Christchurch in November. Major Alan Hildreth, Divisional Commander of the Salvation Army in Canterbury and Westland, will visit Ashburton in the w r eek-end and will conduct the services at the Citadel on Sunday. Mr W. H. Courtenay, who has boon Inspector of Permanent Ways at Ashburton for the past two years has been notified by the Railway. Department of his transfer to Oamnru. He will leave next week, his placg here being taken by Mr G. E. Williams, of Parnassus. Mr 11. H. Baker, clerk in tlici parcels office of the’ Ashburton Railway Station for the past two years, will leave for Christchurch shortly on transfer. Mr R. J. Madden, of Ashburton, who has been stationed at Christchurch will take his place.
