PLUNKET SOCIETY.

THE EIFFELTON SUB-BRANCH / ANNUAL ELECTION OF OFFICERS The annual meeting of the Eiffelton iSub-branch of the Plunket Society was held in the Willowby Hall yesterday afternoon. There was a large and representative gathering including several delegates from other centres. In the absence of the president- (Mrs James McQuilkin), Mrs J. Cocks, vicepresident, welcomed the delegates and visitors. Tho .report and balance-sheet was adopted. Complimentary reference was made to the healthy state of the finance of the branch by Mrs F. W. Seldon (president of the Ashburton branch). The report by the nurse was also received. An interesting and instructive address • was given by Mrs Seldon, who spoke on the work of the Society from its inception unfal the present day. Mrs J. Cameron, of Longbeach, donated a cake and Airs J. Cocks a pottery vase, both articles to be raffled for tho benefit of the funds. Mrs J. R. Wells (Ashburton) alid Miss May Stevens contributed “solos, Mrs lan Johnston and Miss Stevens sang a duet. The following officers were elected: —Patroness,. Mrs J. McQuilkin, senr.; president, Mrs J. McQuilkin; vicepresidjents, Mrs J. Cocks and Mrs K. Taylor; hon. secretary and 'treasurer, Mrs C. W. Anderson; committee, Mesdames W. I. Anderson, Robert Gilmour, J. M. Johnstone, Eric Taylor, D. Marsdei, G. Chalmers, G. Moore, H. Hawkins' L. Moone, 11. White and Miss A. Jaine. Mrs C. W. Anderson and Miss A. Jaine were appointed delegates to the Ashburton branch. Mrfe K. Taylor expressed the thanks of the meeting to Mrs Seldon for her address and t-o Mrs Cameron and Mrs Cocks. Afternoon tea, provided by the ladies of the committee, concluded a most successful and enjoyable meeting.
