PACIFIC DEFENCE.
PRESS COMMENT IN LONDON. (United Press Association—Copyright.) LONDON, March 13. The “Daily Telegraph” commenting editorially on the Pacific defence talks, says that the determination of the two Dominions to organise for their own defence is no more than might bo expected, but nonetheless it is gratifying that the main burden must in any case fall on the British Navy, but its task will be much less onerous by the Dominions’ preparedness to meet an emergency and by concerted strategy with the Home country. MANOEUVRES AT SINGAPORE. SINGAPORE, March 13. More than 25 warships from the 1 China Station and the East Indies Station have begun combined fleet, fortress and Air Force exercises. A blackout of the island, lasting seven hours, will end the manoeuvres on Thursday.
