CONTROL DEPRESSION

AUSTRALIAN PROPOSALS. INTERNATIONAL' ACTION URGED. LONDON, November 23. Australian delegates will submit to the League of Nations Economic Committee, which meets on December 5, a scheme designed to control economic depressions. The salient points of it are that all nations simultaneously maintain or increase social .services and even subsidise low wage purchasers for the purpose of maintaining the volume of internal trade, particularly in durable commodities. It is held to be impossible tor one nation to bolster up expenditure while others retrench. That would merely increase the cost of production and reduce external trade. The League Committee will issue a report on the matter in June.
