TEMPERANCE UNION.

TINWALD BRANCH ACTIVITIES. The Tinwnld branch of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union held its annual meeting recently. The president Mrs M. Hopwood) presided. Mrs blight conducted the devotions. A. Temperance fact was given from the return of the licensing poll, which showed a. gain of 1098 for national prohibition over the 1935 poll. The annual reports of secretary and treasurer wore adopted. The White ltibhon agent, the sailors’ and Maori superintendents reviewed the year’s work and it was considered that satisfactory progress had been made. Owing to the small attendance the election of officers was postponed till the next meeting in February.

A vote of thanks was passed to the trustees of the' Methodist Church for the use of the schoolroom during the year.
