TROOPS ON FRONTIER.
GERMANY AND THE CZECHS.
BERLIN DENIES REPORTS
(United Press Association—Copyright.)
LONDON, November 29,
The “News-Chronicle” publishes a report from a reliable source that Germany is secretly mobilising three Army Corps on the Czech frontier as a reply, it is believed, to Poland and Hungary’s persistent agitation for the annexation, of Ruthenia. This would give them the common frontier to which Germany is opposed. Six divisions are reported to be already completely mobilised, while the remaining three are in process of formation.
Well-informed circles suspect that Herr Hitler wishes to hold his hand until some incident prompts the proGerman elements in the Czech, Slovak, and Ruthenian Governments to call for Germany’s armed support, giving him the pretext for over-running the whole country and occupying Prague. The Propaganda Ministry in Berlin completely denies the reports, describing them as “ridiculous.”
