SALE OF WORK.

BARING SQUARE BSBLt-CLASS

MONEY RAISED FOR MISSIONS. A sum of well over £2O, with other sums yet to come in, .was collected as a result of the bi-annual sal© of work conducted yesterday afternoon by members of the Baring Square Methodist Girls’ Bible Class, in aid of the class’s contribution to missions.

The sale was opened by Mrs J. Moss, to whom a shoulder-spray was presented by Miss Honor Sawle. Those in charge of the stalls were: W ork, Misses Phyllis Hooper, Eileen Montgomery, Peggy Cross and Adele

Thomas; sweets, Misses Vera Oliver and Jean Lilt; cokes, Misses Honor Sawle, Dorothy Corbett and Hazel Penman; bran-tub, Missps Rona Watts and Lorn a. Graham ; vegetables, Miss Joan Rattray ; refreshments, Mesdames Wishart and McQuarters.

CHURCH OF CHRIST FUNCTION LARGE SUM RAISED' AT SOCIAL With pn attendance of well over 100 the social and sale of work at the Ashburton Church of Christ la*d, evening 'was most successful, over £3O being raised. There was a good display of wares and brisk business was canned out by the willing band of vendors. A well-selected programme was presented by members of the Church, the items being as follows: —Pianoforte solo, Miss Jeffs ; recitation, Mrs Buchlier; mouth-organ solo, Master M. Johnston; song, Miss C. Stapleton; recitation, Miss Lorraine Long; humorous songs. Air J. Boughen (Christchurch); song, Aliss J. Hookings; magic and tricks, Mr Boughen ; songs, Mr E. T. AVilliams, Aliss A. Kingsbury, Miss M. Sinclair; humorous recitation Air Boughen. Aliss Jeffs was the accompaniste. In a mock court, Air J. Boughen was judge, Air J. 'Cleland constable and Mr At. J. Savage, clerk of court. The many humorous charges made against the “accused” were the cause of a great deal of merriment. A “mystery supper” concluded a very successful evening. Air Savage was master of ceremonies.
