GARDEN PARTY.

THE MAYFIELD CRADLE RILL. The annual cradle-roll garden party in connection with the Mayfield Women’s Christian Temperance Union w r as held at the residence of Mrs J. D. Murdoch on Friday afternoon.’There was a large gathering of mothers and children. Mrs Duggan, of the Ashburton Salvation Army, gave an address on “Home Training.”

The prizes for the Band of Hope essay competition were presented as follow: Miss Doris Mcllroy 1, Master Argvlo Glassoy and Miss Janet Guiney (equal) 2. Father Christmas presented a toy to each child whose name was on the cradle-roll. Mrs Murdoch was accorded a hearty' vote of thanks for the use of her home.

A bounteous afternoon tea, provided by W.C.T.U. members, was served.
