BRAWL ON A STEAMER. s#

AUCKLAND, Nov. 27
Four men were taken to the Auckland Hospital following a brawl on thfl overseas vessel. Trojan Star on Saturday night. One was severely injured.
The injured are:—Edward C’heync, a greaser, facial lacerations, injury to the left eye, and slight concussion; Thomas Fitzpatrick, a fireman, injury to face and teeth knocked out; David McKay, a fireman, injuries to ribs and abrasions; George Keenan, a fireman, one leg injured and abrasions to the face.
Differences that developed on the voyage from England to New Zealand are said to have culminated in a general brawl, a number of men being taken completely by surprise. Beginning in the firemen’s quarters in the forecastle, the brawl developed into a running fight. Officers of the St. John Ambulance were called and found one man, apparently unconscious on the deck. He was Cheyne, the man most seriously injured. With Fitzpatrick and McKay he was taken to hospital and admitted. The other two were discharged after treatment. A second call to the Trojan Star was received by the ambulance two hours later. Jt took to the hospital George Keenan, who was given treatment and allowed to leave. The police arrested four men.
