PRESENTATIONS
WEDDING GIFT 9 AT HINDS. An enjoyable time was spent at the Hinds Hall oil Thursday evening, when a kitchen evening was given by members of the Presbyterian Church in honour of Miss J. Wilson,, who is to be married shortly. Games and competition provided a very enjoyable evening. Items were given by Miss K. Johnston, Mr J. Johnston (Eiffelton), Mr O. Hopwood (Tinwald)), and Miss .Heather Carroll. The Itev. W. IT. Carroll made & presentation of a Crystal salad bowl on behalf of members of the Church, and wished Miss Wilson happiness. Miss Wilson was also presented with a basketful of kitchen utensils from her fellow-members and friends. Mr M. Wilson responded on behalf of Miss Wilson. 5
A dainty supper was served. The evening closed with the singing of “Auld Lang Syne.”
POPULAR BANK OFFICIAL. More-than 20 businessmen gathered at the Bank of New Zealand at Geraldine on Thursday evening to bid farewell to Mr A, B. Lane, a member of the staff, who has been transferred to Oamaru. In asking Mr Lane to accept a cheque on behalf of those present, the Mayor (Mr J. R. Lack) commended Mr Lane for the interest he had taken in affairs outside his business. Mr Lane had acted as- treasurer of the library and swimming, club, and had taken an active, part in sporting organisations. .Mr J. D. McKechnie (manager of the bank), said he'regretted very much that Mr Lane was going away.
