GRAIN AND PRODUCE. CHRISTCHURCH MARKETS. (Ter Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. The improved values lor potatoes noted last week are still holding in Christchurch. A merchant said this morning that it appeared as it North Island consumers would require Smith Island) potatoes for some time yet,, ami that a big reduction would lie made in local surplus supplies. Quotations 1.0. h. are £3 a ton for Dakotas. £3 ns tor whites and £1 10s for Snttons. There is fair activity in grain ,'Bnd seeds at a time of year when business is normally dull.' Peas, barley, and linseed are still being sown, and there is also a good demand for oats. However, sowings are practically finished now. Good rains recently have greatly improved crop prospects. Good; quality white clover is meeting some demand at from lOd to lid, according to quality, and there is also an inquiry lor perennial ryegrass, Following are quotations to farmers on trucks at country stations, sacks extra unless otherwise stated: —

Milling Wheat— October delivery: Tuscan 5s Lid; Hunters, 6s Id; Pearl 6s 3d (all f.0.b.). Fowl Wheat—F.o.b., 5s lOd. Oats—Gartens, to 2s 9d (A grade), 2s 6d to 3s 3d (lower grade); Algerians, 2s 3d to 2s 6d;. Duns, 3s to 3s 6d (according to quality). Ryegrass—Perennial, 4s to 4s Cd ; Italian, 2s 9d to 3s 3d. Cocksfoot—7d to 9<L Cowgrass—7d to 9d. White clover—lOd to lid. Chaff—£3 10s to £4 (according to quality). Partridge Peas—No. 1 quality, 6s; f.a.q., 5s to 5s 6d; under-grade, 3s 6d. Flour—£l3 15s 6d. in 2001 b sacks. Bran—£4 15s to £5 5s (local price). Pollard—£6 5s to £6 10s (local price). Potatoes—£3 to £4 10s.
