A correspondent of the Australian Associated Press says he understands that the Mufti of Jerusalem has made peace overtures. It is stated that he was authorised to speak on behalf of all the Arabs and has guaranteed peace if Britain gives an assurance that there _ will be no further migration of Jews to Palestine. The development is most important and may lead to an early official announcement. There is little doubt that the policy of partition will be abandoned.
