PERSONAL.

The Chief Justice, the Rt. Hon. Sir Michael Myers, was admitted to a private hospital in Napier last evening. He is suffering from a mild form of laryngitis, and is reported to ho improving. Ladv Myers arrived at Napier from Wellington last night.

Mr A. N. Grigg was congratulated by members of the Ashburton County Council this morning on his election as the Member of Parliament for MidCanterbury. The chairman (.Mr H. J. Crothers) spoke on behalf of the Council and made reference to the services of Mr H. E. Herring while no was Member. Mr Grigg, in reply, also referred to Mr Herring’s good work during the last throe years.
