BUILDING WORKERS

ENGAGEMENT IN AUSTRALIA. MEN NOT MEMBERS OF UNIONS. THE QUESTION OF ADMISSION. (United Press Association—Copyright.) (Received This Day, 9.50 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day.

Officials of the building trade unions expressed doubts whether the 100 Australian building workers who had been engaged by the Fletcher Construction Company for work in New Zealand would be allowed by the New Zealand Government to work there. The officials said that the New Zealand Government had introduced legislation giving preference to unionists, and the information of the Australian trade union leaders was that the men engaged were not members of the building trade unions.
