THE ASHBURTON CLUB. SUCCESSFUL SEASON EXPECTED. Several members of the Ashburton Bowling Club have been active lately in preparing the greens and improving the surroundings. Both greens have been top-dressed and there is every probability of a good playing surface being ready for the opening of the season next Saturday. The season will be opened on the lower green the top one being reserved for matches and play in the later part of the season. The pavilion has been re-painted and, the surroundings tidied up. The greens have responded very well to the special preparation they have received and are looking remarkably well. There is every prospect of a very successful season BIBLE CLASS SPORTS. TINWALD GIRLS’ SUCCESS. CUP AVON FOR THIRD TIME. For the third year in succession the Tinwald Anglican Girls’ Bible Class won the Challenge Cup at the inter - Bible Class Sports, held on Saturday, at St. Andrew’s College grounds, Christchurch.' Their total points were 41, with Y.AV.C.A. second with 29 points. The Tinwald successes were:—/syds, Miss F. Gudsell 1; skipping race, Miss F. Gudsell 1, Miss H. Bell 2; high jump, Miss F. Gudsell 2; long jump (team of 4), Tinwald 1; three-legged race, Misses F. Gudsell and H. Bell 1; potato race (team of 4), Tinwald 1; 110yds relay (team of 4), Tinwald 1; 110yds relay (team of 6), Tinwald 2. The Tinwald team was Misses Hope 8011, Doris Clark, Nancy Annand, Mavis Brown, Marjorie Hickman, and Fav Gudsell.
