LODGE MEETING.

THE ASHBURTON DRUID®. Bro. A. C. Vincent presided over the fortnightly meeting of the Star of Ashburton Lodge, U.A.0.D., last evening. The Bards reported on visits to sick members, and sick pay was passed in favour of 16 members, including three of outside lodges. Correspondence was received from Grand Lodge stating that a circular would be issued to members shortly, with' reference to the possible effect the Social Security Act will have in relation to Friendly Societies. Copies of the report of the International Grand Lodge meeting held in Hull, England, in July, were received. The following were appointed as a sub-committee to prepare the Lodge syllabus for next year:—The Arch Druid, the secretary, and Bro. C. Ives. The application of two brothers for superannuation was received and will be forwarded to Grand Lodge for consideration. It was decided to hold a sweethearts’ and wives’ card evening next lodge night, and to invite members of the Success of Ashburton Lodge. At the close of the lodge a card match was held with the Hibernian Lodge, the Druids winning by 18 points. Bro’. Vincent welcomed the visitors. Bro. J. Brown congratulated the Druids on their win, thanking them for an enjoyable evening.
