CIVIL AIR GUARDS
WOMEN REPRESENTATIVES. The woman selected by the Air Ministry to be head of the new Civil Air Guard is Mrs F. G. Miles, thirty-four-year-old wife of the famous Reading aircraft designer. , Mrs Miles is one of the five commissioners, headed by Lord Londonderry, who will direct the operations and the policy of the Guard. She is one of the most remarkable as well as one of the most beautiful women in Britain, a pilot and .a world famous aircraft designer. She planned the Miles Sparrow-Hawk, one of Britain’s most successful racing monoplanes. Tall, dark, blue-eyed, she is the eldest daughter of the late Sir Johnston Forbes-Robertson, the actor. Her name is Maxine, but her friends call her Blossom. She is easily the most popular woman in aviation, with friends every; where and no enemies. Her interests, apart from aviation, are her five-year-old son Jeremy and the garden of her lovely house at Twyford, Berkshire.
