THE ASHBURTON CLUB. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The club was in a good financial position, stated the annual report ol the Ashburton Cricket Club presented at its meeting last evening. There was a credit balance of £5 11s fid. and accounts amounting to £ll 10s were still outstanding. Mr J. B. Nicoll presided. There was an increase in membership in the 1937-38 season and all practices had been well attended, continued the report. The senior team was runner-up in the Ash-burton Conntv Cricket Association’s competition. Seven players in the Club had gained representative honours. 1 Patron, Sir William Nosworthy, president, Mr E. F. Nicoll; vice-presi-
dents, 12 were elected,; eluf> captain, Mi' A. A. Todd; secretary and treasurer, Mr It. AY. Big gar; committee, Messrs I. M. Hamilton, P. G. Harper, H. E. Cook and O. Burton; delegate to Ashburton County Cricket Association,_Mr I. M. Hamilton; delegate to Sports Association, Mr A. A. Todd; auditor, Mr AY. B. Thomas. It was decided to oppose the proposal for the playing of two-dav cricket this season. One team was entered in the senior competition.
