THE WEATHER.
OVERCAST CONDITIONS PREVAIL The weather in Ashburton to-day was threatening with a light but chilly wind from the south. The sky was almost completely overcast and little was seen of the sun. The maximum temperature yesterday was 59 degrees and the minimum last night 44.7 degrees. The barometer stood at .30.33 inches this morning. TO-DAY'S FORECAST. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather:— General situation: A shallow depression. moved rapidly aqross the Dominion last night, and there lias been a ksharp rise of pressure in the south. An '•mticyclone is still centred to the i. north while pressure is relatively low [ over south-eastern Australia. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows: Light to moderate and variable winds with nortlierlies soon predominating. Weather fair to cloudy with cool 'night temperatures and some frosts and morning fogs. Seas slight to moderate.
