NEW TRIAL GRANTED.

DAMAGES HELD TO BE EXCESSIVE (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, September 27. The damages of £2750 awarded by a jury against Sir Kenneth Douglas to Percy Higginbottom and others for a fire which spread from Sir Kenneth Douglas’ property and burned an estimated area of 300 acres of growing flax at Mangaroa, were held by Mr Justice Blair in a. reserved judgment to-day to be excessive. A new trial was granted.
