To find a hen pheasant nestling under a display stand in his shop in Horotnungn street, Hastings, was tiie experience of Air lb AI. Kessell, recently. It is not known whore tine bird came from, hut it is surmised that it must have conn' dow n in Horetaunga street and, finding the general bustle of the shopping area to<; mucri for it, took refuge in the shop. The pheasant was handed over to Mr j. G. C. McKenzie, superintendent of reserves to the Hastings Borough Council, who' stated that the bird was strong and healthy and appeared happy in its new enclosed quarters, making a valuable acquisition to the aviarv.
