“RED” CZECH PREMIER. “WILL NOT BE TOLERATED.” (Received This Dayi, 9.30 a.m.) LONDON, September 23. It is reported from Godesberg that a high Nazi official said the whole situation had been changed as the'result of the appointment of a “Red” general as Premier of Czechoslovakia, consequently Germany would not tolerate such a menace. Well-informed quarters say that anything may be expected. TENSE PREPARATIONS. FRAN CO-GERMAN FRONTIER Received This Day, 1.0 p.m.) LONDON, September 24. Midnight reports from the frontiers' reveal a most tense state of preparedness. At -Strasbourg French soldiers in full field equipment ane standing by fighting positions to a depth of three kilometers in front of the Maginot line. The German frontier in the vicinity of Kelil is plunged in darkness with the exoeption of lights leading up to the fortifications. CZECHS FRONTIER POSTS. GUNS POINT TOWARD GERMANY. (Received This Day, 1.20 p.m.) BERLIN, Sept. 23. All bridges and railway lines have been mined, and trains from Eger and the Czech interior are proceeding with difficulty. Strong Czech forces ai'e occupying the strategic frontier posts, with the muzzles of machine-guns and heavy artillery turned towards Germany. . . A FRENCH GENERAL WITH THE CZECHS. A REPORTED DECISION. (Received This Day, 9.40 a.m.) LONDON, September 23. It is reported from Prague that General Faucher (chief of the French military mission to Czechoslovakia) sent his resignation in to the French Government. It is reported that he had announced that he had placed himself at the disposal of the Czech defence forces. The Exchange Telegraph Agency correspondent at Paris say's that the report is neither confirmed nor denied officially. General Faucher ranked as a general of the Czech Army since 1930.
