After her marriage to a naval man this morning, Hazel Margaret Howard appeared in the Police Court to answer two summons charges of the theft of a registered letter containing £5 and the theft of a postal packet, both the property of the PostmasterGeneral. The police said Howard admitted in a statement having accepted a registered letter -addressed “Aliss Howard.” When'asked by a postal official where she expected the letter from, she took a. chance and said Sydney. The letter was actually posted in New South Wales. A money order for £6 in a letter was cashed by Howard and spent. Later, she accepted another letter enclosing a receipt for the first registered letter. Air C. R. Orr Walker, S.AL, said the fact that she was married to-day put the Court in ail awkward position. “1 cannot very well put her in gaol on her wedding morning. Bv getting married, she has done something that would appeal to even the hardest heart on the Bench,” lie said. In convicting and ordering Howard to come up for sentence if called upon and make restitution, the Magistrate said: “This will he vour husband’s wedding gift to you, 1 suppose.”
