DARING INITIATIVE.

THE BRITISH GOVERNMENT. SAY IN THE NEGOTIATIONS. LONDON, August 2d. Referring to Viscount Runciman’s mission, to Czechoslovakia, the “Manchester Guardian,” evidently sceptical of the official statement that he will bo indenendefet of any Government, trusts that the British Government will “buy his ticket.” It describes the move as “the most daring initiative taken in European affairs since Sir Samuel Hoare led the sanctions brigade into action at Geneva.” Expressing approval, the “Guardian” remarks: “If we risk far, we may reasonably have a say in the negotiations. At least the Germans are not likely to bomb Prague while Lord Runciman is continuing his investigations.”
