WAIPIATA PATIENTS.
DECISIONS OF THE COMMITTEE. The Waipiata Sanatorium Committee met at Dunedin last week. The chairman (Mr E. Macdonald) presided and Mr W. Bryant represented the Ashburton Hospital Board. The Medical Superintendent (Dr. A. Kidd) reported that 9 patients had been admitted in July, 8 were discharged, and 1 died, while 134 remained on August 1, the majority doing well or improving. He recommend,ed as suitable fo radmission patients from tthe following districts: Southland 7, South Otago 2, Ashburton. 1. The secretary (Mr T. Pryde) l imported that at date of meeting patients from the folloiving districts were in the Sanatorium: Southland 60, South' Canterbury 25, Ashburton 8, Waitaki 16, South Otago 14. Vincent 4, Maniototo 7—a total of 134. Of that number 46 had been under treatment for more than 12 months. Since the previous meeting 9 patients from four hospital districts had been discharged. He submitted a waning lifct of, 34 patients, including 8 at present in the shelters at the Dunstan Hospital The treasurer (Mr T. Pryde) submitted a statement of accounts for the four months ended July 31, which showed that while the receipts were somewhat below the amounts estimated the expenditure was below the estimate, which was considered satisfactory. The secretary submitted his fifteenth annual report on the Committee’s activities for the year ended March 31. It was decided to hold the next meeting at Waipiata on Wednesday, /September 28.
