BOXING.
CALTEAUX TO MEET ADAMS.
BOUT IN ASHBURTON. r A professional contest between Victor Calteaux, of Auckland, and Les Adams, of Ashburton, lias been arranged by the executive of the Ashburton Boxing Association. The bout will take place at the Radiant Hall on Saturday, August 20. Calteaux has had a long run of successes, and his meeting Adams’, the local professional, should arouse much interest. It is hoped to arrange for a party of West Coast boxers to meet local boys in the preliminary bouts.
AITKEN DEFEATS GILDO.
PALMERSTON N., August 11
Fighting to his own plan, Billy Aitken,. of Wellington, heat Young Gildo, of Honolulu, on points in a, 12-round contest staged by the Mnnawatu Boxing Association to-night. Gildo early indicated that he Wanted a punching match, but Aitken was content to pick him off with shortarm punches as he came in and to let Gildo take what points he could in close. It was a. splendid bout which pleased a good house.
