AGED 108 YEARS
ENGLAND’S OLDEST WOMAN.
UNDER SIX MONARCHS.
RECOLLECTIONS OF OLD DAYS
(United Press Association —Copyright.) (Received This Day, 12.5 p.m.) LONDON, August 11.
England’s “little old lady,” Mrs Ann Stansall, of twinkling eyes and bewitching smile, died, at the age of 108, at Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. It is believed that Mrs Stansall was the oldest woman in the Country. Mrs Stansall lived alone at Saint John’s Place for the last 15 years. She did her own housework, declaring, “hard work never kills,” and “always have a smile.” She never wore spectacles, heard perfectly, and ate whatever she pleased. She made an aeroplane flight at the age of 102. Mrs Standsall celebrated her 108th birthday four months ago, entertaining many guests, for whom she poured out cups of tea and told stories of the crinoline days, penny-farthing bicycles, pig-tailed Jacktars, slavery and pressgangs. She remembered the reigns of six monarchs. Mrs Stansall collapsed when her guests departed and spent the remainder of her life in bed.
