FAREWELL SOCIAL.

PRESENTATIONS AT STAVELEY.

There was a large attendance at the Stavoloy Hall on the occasion of a farewell tendered to Air and Airs L. G. McFarlane prior to their departure for Lakeside. Visitors were present from Mount Somers, Alford Forest, Ashburton Forks, Bushside. Air L. H. Bansgrove, who presided, spoke feelingly of the loss that the district would sustain by the departure of their guests, mentioning the kindly interest taken in him by Air McFarlane when he came te the district 2| years ago. Mr McFarlane had been a great help to him over difficult periods from one regime to another. Mr Bansgrove presented Air McFarlane with a roll of notes from the friends they would be leaving behind. Air C. N. Totty spoke on behalf of the Presbyterian Church, regretting the loss of'a treasurer after two years in office. , Air A. ('. C. Lion, as secretary of the Spriugburn School Committee, eulogised the work of Mr McFarlane during the very many l years he had held the position of chairman. He presented All McFarlane with a. mirror from Ins fel-low-members of the committee.

Mrs E. Pawsoy (president of the Women’s Institute) paid a tribute to Airs AlcFarlanc, who had been a member of the Institute for some time and had been a very efficient secretary. On behalf of members she presented Alls MeFarlane with an Institute spoon. Both guests feelingly replied.

Supper was handed round and the the company enjoyed themselves in dancing. Mr E. Pawsoy was ALL'., and music was supplied by Messrs Wulfrey and T. Green.
