The All-England lawn tennis championship tournament was continued at Wimbledon to-day. . The Australian. Miss 'Wynne, opened confidently against the veteran Madame Mathieu, the French champion. She won the first set easily, but then lost touch and became most erratic, Madame Mathieu eventually defeating her, 1-6, 6-2, 6-0. Details are:— Men’s Singles. Quarter-finals. Budge. (TJ.S.A.) defeated Cejnar (Czechoslovakia), 6-3, 6-0, 7-5. Puncec (Jugoslavia.) defeated Macphail, 6-2, 6-1. 6-1. Henkel (Germany), defeated Heeht (Czechoslovakia), 7-5, 6-1, 6-2. Austin defeated EUmier (Switzerland) 6-2, 6-1, 6-2. Women’s Singles. Fourth Round. Mdme. Sperling (Germany) defeated Miss Lumb, 7-5, 6-1. Mdlle. Jedrezejowska (Poland) defeated, Miss Morphew, 6-3, 6-2. Mrs Fabyan (U.S.A.) defeated Miss Bundy (U.S.A.), 3-6, 6-3, 6-4. Miss H. Jacobs (U.’S.A.) defeated Miss Scriyen, 6-3, 6-0. Miss Stammers defeated Miss Nuthall, 6-3, 6-0. Miss Marble (U.S.A.) defeated Miss Hardwick, 6-5, 6-4. Women’s Doubles. Third Round. Mrs Andrus (U.S.A.) and Mdme. Henrotin (France), defeated Miss .Dtearman and Miss Ingram, 3-6, 6-1, 9-7. Misses Heinemiller and Morphew defeated Misses Hardwick and Whitmarsh, 6-4, 6-4. Mixed Doubles. Second Round. Brugnon (France) and Miss Coyne (Australia) defeated Commander and Mrs Glover Miss Nancv Lyle), 6-0, 9-7. Third Round. Butler and Miss Heelley defeated Malfroy (New Zealand) and Miss Nuthall, 6-5, 2-6, 6-2. Fourth Round.
