THE WEATHER.
MILD, BUT OVERCAST TO-DAY. With the Avind changing from northeast to the north-Avest last- night, the weather in Ashburton became mild. This morning conditions were still temperate, but the sky Avas OA^ercast. The maximum temperature yesterday Avas 50.5 degiiees, the reading of the thermometer falling to 35.1 in the night. The barometer stood at 29.44 inches this morning.
TO-DAY’S FORECAST.
(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day.
The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather:— General situation: A rather dosn depression was centred this morning off the West Coast. Pressure is still relatively loav over Eastern Australia, so that a secondary depression is likely to follow the main one. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows: — Freshening north-easterly Avinds, later turning to ncrth-Avesterlies or westerlies. Weather cloudy to overcast and rain probable Avith some heavy falls, and snow in the western ranges. Temperatures mild to moderate. Seas moderate, but rising north of Ivnikoura.
